my tribute to the greatest work of art ever.. Mona lisa, and the best art site in the world.. dA! .. and to commomerate my 1000 pv's, i used 1001 avatars from across dA to make this mosaic.

From some of the comments i got, it seems a few individuals feel that this deviation has got undeserved attention and that iam deceiving people by taking credit for an image created using a software. this work was simply my way of thanking the dA community, my friends here and my appreciation of an masterpiece. it was never intended to be anything else. everyone i've come across in dA are talented individuals and certainly are not so naive to be deceived by an image as claimed by these 'critics'. i wish these people would refrain from discouraging others even if they dont have an heart to encourage...

also lot of people have asked how this was made and how long it took, so, for them...

this took 2 weeks to make, one week for collecting the avatars and a week or so for making the final image (working on spare time)

the process ....

first i collected the avatars keeping in mind the colors that might be needed, in this case for the skin tone range and darker background.

then i used acdsee 3 to convert everything to bmp, this was required coz the avatars were mixed format and also most were animated.

the third step was to arrange the basic montage, i used metapixel [link] a free command line tool under linux to create it. but keep in mind that u might have to experiment quite a bit before u get a decent base image

the last step was to import the image into photoshop and use individual avatars to fine tune it (remove multiple instances, replace ones that didnt match etc). for this particular image it took about 60 layers

finally i wish to thank everyone yet again for the time they spent on watching and commenting ..
